Please
meet Dr. Gil Buchanan
Dr. Gil Buchanan joined Arkansas Pediatric Clinic in August 1965 and
retired December 1997. He currently serves as a Locum Tenen physician
at APC. Dr. Buchanan graduated from UAMS in 1959 and completed his
residency and fellowship in Pediatric Allergy in 1965 from UAMS. He
is a Board Certified Pediatrician. Dr. Buchanan has served as President
of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, President
of the Central Arkansas Pediatric Society, Advisory Committee, Aldersgate
Medical Camp, and several committees of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
He also has served as President of Arkansas Advocate for Children
and Families, Immunization Coalition Vice-Chairman, and has served
as Medical Director for Children's Medical Services (Arkansas Children
with Special Health Care Needs-Title V program) retiring in 2004.
Dr. Buchanan and his wife, Helen are parents to two children, Katherine Mitchell,
a local Family Practice physician, and Clay Buchanan, an attorney
in Dallas, Texas. The Buchanans have six grandchildren.
